Hans Selye Awardees of the Congress
Eight outstanding young scientists have been awarded
by the Hans Selye Award of the Congress: Justin L. P. Benesh, Laury
Chaerle, Bindi Doshi, Bella Groisman, Maki Kawai-Yamada, Hynek
Pikhart, Ronald Ullers and Cindy Voisine. Three of them (J.L.P.
Benesh, B. Doshi and B. Groisman) also received the Assay Design
Student Poster Award.

This year Dr. Ellen Nollen was selected
as the recipient of the Alfred Tissieres Young Investigator Award for 2007. The award will
be presented on 26th August, Sunday when the lecture of Dr. Nollen will be a highlight of
the closing ceremony of the World Conference of Stress. |

| Hans Selye stamp The Hungarian Postal Service will issue an
official stamp to commemorate the Congress and the 100th birth anniversary of Hans Selye.
We will have a special post office at the Congress venue with special envelopes and stamps
for the first day issue of the stamp at the opening day of the Congress.  |

| High school student researchers as hosts and hostesses 
As a unique element of the Congress, the Network of Youth Excellence (www.nyex.info) will recruit a hundred
high school students pursuing related biological research in top laboratories as hosts and
hostesses. Be prepared! These students will not only help you to find what you want
at the Congress but will also stop you and ask about your research. Please take a moment
and answer their questions: this will be a lifetime experience for them. Thank you very

| NEW Travel Grants to Young European Scientists A
limited number of travel grants covering travel costs are available from the European Science Foundation, principally aimed
at European young researchers, to support their active participation in the World
Conference of Stress in Budapest, Hungary on 23-26 August 2007. The event is supported by
ESF-LESC. LESC is the ESF Standing Committee for Life, Earth and Environmental Sciences ( www.esf.org/lesc/grants ).
The ESF-LESC travel grants will be up to 1000 Euros each. The application details can be
downloaded HERE.
The application deadline is the 18th of June. Applications should be sent
according to the guidelines above to stress07@esf.org.
Abstract submission for applicants, who have not submitted an abstract yet will be open
after May 31st. |

Regretfully, the organizing committee
could not find support for traveling scholarships to the Congress but is happy to offer 20
free registrations to support the participation of young scientists at the Congress.
